Growing as the day progressed
Collecting glittering gems that blinded the eye
Feeling there was none equal to 'I'!
Steady and still, mighty and strong
A ripple, a wave, turned everything wrong
With winds it swayed from this to that end
Wondering why he was frail and thus weakened
All strength waned as dusk fell
On ears deaf, all tears and laments fell
Into darkness and nothing it faded
By night, it knew it would be dead
One moment happy, the next, sad
Feeling mighty sometimes, and then, how small!
Moment to moment, his radiance waned and waxed
The reflected sun rippled with every wind that passed
A life of desiring, limited by the shores
It prayed to the sun, the ruler of the cosmos
Not knowing that that was he
And not this, his mere reflection!
He was the light that saw and nurtured all
His residence in the pond only a small fall
Shedding delusions and misconceptions
He can regain his true self through deep reflection.
