A Few Hours of Peace

Trawling up and down
Scouring east and west
Finally I find my moor
To take a well earned rest

Gathering myself to go
Yet one more day
Binding together my experiences
Planning what to say

But just now
As the sun takes a dip
The deep sea swallows it
Relishing slowly every sip

And I watch content
Gently rocking and resting
With tired, amused eyes
This scene I am feasting

The night falls like a mask
Shrouding the waters beneath
The sounds die down
Except the waves that don't cease

Like a lullaby sung
To soothe and assure
For a few hours at least
Of silence and peace pure

Lulled into sleep
I dare to dream
All alone in a world
Where I can laugh and scream

I must wake up with the dawn
And go back to do my job
But as the gentle breeze blows
The quite, no one can rob

I become myself
With no pretense
No one to please
No reason to get tense

I forget the world
Oblivious to time and space
Slipping deeper and deeper
Into my own loving embrace.
