How we clamour
For space, for name
In the short spanFor space, for name
As if the few inches
Of the space, we occupy
Can transform to
Of the space, we occupy
Can transform to
A kingdom that never dies?
And yet we fail
To conquer ourselves
To conquer ourselves
Fearing what we will find
If we turn inwards
But who can bear
The glare so bright?
Find more bad than good
And not take fright?
Finding comfort
In numbers
Avoiding awareness
To numbness
Words and deeds
Empty, worthless
In the larger scheme
Quite powerless
Shouting 'Look at me!'
A negligible speck
Voice and I
Lost in the vast space
The journey
Into the Infinite
Yet begins
With steps Finite
In this short time
Given to us
How far a small leap
Can take us
Not fame, glory
Not name, grace
Is that why we
Come to this place?
