The Silent Core

Foamy waves
Child-like and eager
Touching the sands
Chasing each other

Innocent and happy
Noisy and teasing
Reaching out joyously
Quickly retreating
Growing up suddenly
Falling just as fast
Terrorizing in their stature
But still, in the ocean, lost

Their power awesome
With a resounding sound
Destroying all in their path
Finally destroyed, unfound

Into the vastness
Deep and silent
Housing a universe
Carrying undercurrents

Surface fluttering
But quiet within
Menacing in storms
And then quieting

At the bottom
The buried sand
The vessel that holds
Where the waters land

Is that the end
Or something deeper
Solid and quiet
Resting forever

All this noise
Where does it vanish?
Deep inside where
Thoughts are banished.

A silent core
Calm and steady
Restful and peaceful
If you are but ready

To welcome it
Into your hearts
And not let the breeze
Shake up your parts

Like the ocean
Contained on the sandy bed
So also a wealth of thoughts
Roam around in your head

But swim deep
And find that core
Where resides
The Ancient Soul

The One that connects
Everything created
A core that remains
Unobserved and content

Silent and observing
Unshaken, unstirred
Watching a play
Letting life go undeterred

What unfolds and folds
Are but part of that drama
In that silent core
There is no melodrama.

To touch it is to contain
The ocean in the fist
 For there is one Truth
And this is it, this is it.
